We have created this site to inform and educate both our current members about The Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) and the general public, who reside in the Southern California area. The medal is a valor decoration which ranks fourth in order of precedence for heroism while participating in aerial flight. It was established by an Act of Congress on July 2, 1926. The first DFC medal was presented on June 11, 1927, to
Charles A. Lindbergh (the namesake of our Chapter). The Distinguished Flying Cross Society was founded in 1994 as a 501(c)(19) non-profit war veterans’ organization and is made up of men and women who were awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.

The San Diego Lindbergh Chapter of the Distinguished Flying Cross Society was started in 1995. Our membership consists of DFC recipients honorary members and associate members mainly from the San Diego and Orange Counties of southern
California.

We host quarterly luncheon meetings for our members and guests. Often, we have guest speakers who help to educate our members and guests regarding current or past flight operations in which they were involved. Many of our members attend the DFC Society bi-annual meetings. These meetings help to further our educational commitment. As part of our Chapter commitment to education we are in the process of creating a legacy grant to those high school graduates who are interested in aviation as a career.
